WELCOME TO MY CORNER OF THE WORLD

YOU ARE WELCOME HERE

I'm David, your host here at Quiet Heart Press.  Thank you for visiting.

Most of us have lived through hard times in our lives.  And, many of us still carry some of the weight, the pain from those events and days.  Others of us may be going through hard times right now and need to know there is hope, need to feel a whisper of better days to come. Others may have friends or family who can use something new and promising in their lives.

Many may need to know that someone, somewhere, really does care.

Quiet Heart is here to say, "I understand", and that, as difficult as things may be now, hope and peace are real and available through the grace and kindness of God.  I have lived through many hard things in my life.  I have known hurts I hope you will never know. I have lived in the lands of sorrow beyond where tears can go. One sorrow was the death of my oldest son. The grief that followed his death was so overwhelming I became dangerously and inexplicably ill - so ill that friends and family feared for my life. I was literally dying from grief, before I understood what was happening. Another sorrow was something even more crushing. Still, I can honestly, sincerely, tell you: God does care. He sees our tears and hears our crys in our darkest nights, even when we do not hear Him or see Him or feel Him there.

In my many years of teaching and working in 7 Single Adult Bible Study classes, and 3 Married Couples classes, and having been "single again" for 17 years before entering into a short-lived, disenchanting marriage, I have learned much about how heavy the cares and responsibilities of this world can be, that innocent people do suffer, and how hearts can be bruised or broken.  And, I have learned much about how hearts and lives can be healed and made whole again. Just as surely as nights are dark, dawn comes, and the new day is bright.

Quiet Heart Press is here to speak of God's grace and love, but much of what you will find here in Quiet Heart is not "religious" or "churchy".  Many of the poems and other writings you will find here address Life in an ordinary way, with no reference to religion or God.  It is important to know that Christians face all the same problems and grief that everyone else faces.  It is important to know that Christians do not have to do it all alone.  Many of the works here at Quiet Heart illustrate God's love and grace, and make clear my belief and trust in God.

The introduction to my booklet of poetry/prose, BRILLIANT RAINBOW TWINE and BROKEN-HEART LINES, says it like this:

"Why?" (speaking of why this book/these works were written)
"Because so many people think Christians live in a dreamworld,
ignoring the realities of the world, hiding from all the pain and
trouble, doubt and disillusionment -- live in a world where the
word love means something different, in a strange sort of way.

Rather, it is the Christian  who should, of all people, understand
what others feel, how others think.  Christians should understand the
burdens other carry.  We do not live in a dreamworld.  We do not live
in a world that denies reality.  We live in this world.  It is we who have
faced the realities of this world; yes, hand-to-hand, and have been
delivered from the struggling grasp of needless doubt, who have seen
through veils of illusion, who receive needed help in times of trouble
and sorrow and loss and pain.

BRILLIANT RAINBOW TWINE and BROKEN-HEART LINES illustrate this, as do many
other Quiet Heart works.  Quiet Heart is here to provide a place of peace and rest in your busy day, a place of hope and trust and faith.  May you find a little rest, a lot of peace, in your visit here.

                                                                                                    David

I live in Texas and make the 2nd best lasagna in all the world.  I would rather watch a thunderstorm than television; my favorite entertainment is live theatre or symphony. I have two sons and a daughter living in Texas, one son in Heaven, and three terrific grandchildren: one granddaughter and one grandson, 14 years old, and a grandson just 13 months old, here in the spring of 2011.

Quiet Heart Press is neither a business nor a hobby for me; it is a part of my heart I open up to you. This is a place to find some peace and rest in your busy day.

Quiet Heart dares to search dark corners of broken hearts ...
to touch weary souls ...
to speak of hope, and trust, and
faith.

You are welcome here.

And, if you found something worthwhile here, or have a comment, I would enjoy hearing from you.

The eBooks written by me are available here in the Quiet Heart Press site, and also at Amazon.com, Barnes & Noble, Apple, Sony, Kobo, Smashwords, and Diesel websites. eBooks come in several formats: Kindle/mobi, ePub, PDF, Nook, and are available as aps for smart phones at some sites. Please consider purchasing directly from me, the author. I do get a few pennies more that way, and that goes toward keeping the Online Reading Room online and free.

On average, the Quiet Heart Press internet site is visited by thousands of people from 90+ nations each year. Many people who access the Quiet Heart site are in nations or circumstances that do not allow internet purchases from the US. Many of these people use the free Online Reading Room to download selected books, chapter by chapter. An example is, in one recent month, more than 300 copies of Abiding In The Vine, a commentary on John 15:1-17,  was downloaded in one city in a new nation created from the old communist Soviet Union. I can only believe good will come of that. There is significant traffic from China, also.

PLEASE NOTE:  Just like almost everyone, I have a name, and other people have the same, or very similar, name. I am me. I AM NOT the David Duke from Louisiana that was a part of the KKK. I have never been in or aspired to political office. I have never been in prison. I am not a doctor. I have never been on television. ALL the  books I have written are published by Quiet Heart Press, and I always use my middle initial in all my work: David A. Duke.  Anything else you find or read that does not match all these facts is not by me.
